Grandparents arrive

My parents arrived last week just in time! Armed with tons of luggage (bringing very little of their own clothes) they are here to help. There have been alot of babies in our extended family, both boys and girls. AKA, tons of hand-me-downs! So thanks to aunts, grandmothers, sister-in-laws, and friends, much of our kid’s clothes has been provided for a while.

They already have been helping tons as my energy levels are depleting by the day. We were able to finally organize and prepare the babies’ room. My mom could be here for a baby shower thrown by my missionary girlfriends.

I can’t explain what it means to have family here for this season. Consider that it was odd for us to have a grandmother present at a baby shower, as this never happens! De Wet’s parents will come in October. One of the greatest sacrifices of missions is living so far away from family especially during the historical family events. We are so blessed they can come for a good long visit and spend time with their grandchildren. It makes it all the more real that this is happening.

I’ll leave you with this photo. It’s Grandparenthood in all its glory. They insisted on getting something to rock the babies in and baby gliders were hard to find. I wasn’t going to fight it. We found this super comfy chair that glides. Here’s my 50+ year old father assembling it! :)

PS: That ball in the background is on loan to us, in an effort to help encourage this little girl OUT!
