Teaching in Swaziland

I spent last week at Youth With A Mission Swaziland (photo above) teaching in the School of Biblical Studies. This is my second trip to this country. Swaziland is one of the last Kingdoms in the world.

The king is very rich and has about 18 wives and counting! Call him a modern day African-Solomon. Swaziland has the highest HIV infection rate in the world which puts pressure on the economy.

These are the kind of things you would see on the news but when you actually go there the first thing you will see is the unspeakable beauty of the country, mountainous rolling hills covered in the greenest grass and enormous volcanic boulders AMAZING! Some call it the Switzerland of Africa. The people are very friendly and an absolute joy to spend time with.

Our Mobile team is running a satellite 3-month Bible School. I went to both teach (above photo) and give pastoral care. One of the reasons we moved here was to be closer to nations like Swaziland. The group of students I had was a mix of Swazis and internationals. What a joy to teach, they had a wonderful sense of humor and we had a lot of fun in class (See them eating below).

I am very proud of our staff that we sent from here to go and run the school, they are doing an amazing job! I was very honored and excited to see and be a part of what God is doing through them there.

One quote of the week that stood out to me from a student: “I never liked history in school because I didn’t know why I was studying it. But now that you are teaching the history to better understand the Bible I love it!”
