Egypt Trip in 6 Photos

I’m home from Egypt, but this trip has left me marked with a renewed love for the Arabic speaking world. To see the very land we read about in the Bible is something I can’t quite put into words. Incase you can’t see them, here are 6 photos.

PHOTO #1: OUT IN THE DESERT

(top) I tallied up all my travels and realized I had never in my life SEEN A DESERT except for on tv. Did you know the Sahara which is roughly most of North Africa is about the same size as the continental United States? Chew on that one for a second!

PHOTO #2: MAPPING IT OUT

Students making their own maps of the journeys of Paul from the book of Acts. So cool to see their part of the world was part of this story. As I said in my last post, for their safety, I’m blacking out their faces.

PHOTO #3: YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU ARE TEACHING

Here’s their school photo. I wish I could point out some of the people in this class and why it is so critical they are getting this training. Let me put it this way, people from nations we don’t normally see getting training to start things in hard places that would humble you just to hear about. In this class, the potential for radical work in the Middle East is limitless. Just like you have no idea who they are, I had no idea who really was sitting in that classroom.

(Sorry that’s a horrible photo, just trying to be safe, you get the idea)

PHOTO #4: A TEACHER’S VIEW

We always show you a photo of us teaching, I decided to turn things around. This is my view of part of the class, sorry no wide angle lens this time. What a wild week of teaching. They loved to debate and ask questions. It was wonderful, I could have taught alot longer. We are now in discussions to run Titus Project here one day in the hopes of creating Arabic speaking teachers!

PHOTO #5: WHAT AN HONORARIUM!

An honorarium is usually an gift to say thank you for coming to teach/preach/speak. Being that we feel called to teach in places that can’t afford to bring us, usually its just a little thank you or a nice card or a live chicken (that’s a story for another day). Anyhow, this school runs 100% by faith and is in huge financial need, so the honorarium they give is to take you to see the best of their country.

I got to see a life long dream of the Giza Pyramids, the Nile, the Egyptian Museum. Hands down the best honorarium I have ever gotten. Plus it was 2 days before my birthday! This was my 27th nation to teach in right before celebrating my 27th birthday. What an honor!

PHOTO #6: DUDE, AFRICA IS HUGE

I shot this on the plane and was reminded that man Africa is a huge continent. ACTUAL FLYING TIME Cape Town to Cairo is about 11 hours without stops! One reason why we moved here was to be closer to other African nations. Since being here we’ve been to Swaziland, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, and now Egypt. You maybe thinking, 11 hours is not close. However, living here makes the rest of Africa much more accessible & affordable.

Looking at that map reminds me, this continent is awesome.
