You never know who you are teaching

Please excuse the blurry picture and the greyed out person. I want to share this with you but also be sensitive to security issues, so I will be extremely vague. The person I’m standing with leads an underground Bible school in Asia.

She came up to me in our Germany meetings and said “I remember you!”

“You taught in my Bible school years ago when I was a student. Now I’m the LEADER of the Bible school in my country”

I almost cried right then and there. You have to be kidding me! I remembered her as a student. It was a particularly challenging time for me as I lost someone I loved. I remember asking God if it was worth it to be there.

We are never promised to see the fruit of our ministry. Its not even something we deserve to see. Did Paul or any of the heroes of the faith get to see their fruit? Probably not.

We sat down for lunch and talked for a long time. She shared with me her challenges, particularly with a heightened security situation and a new baby on the way.

I was so humbled to have this giant sitting in front of me.

We never know who we are teaching or what greatness lies in them.

An Asian woman.

Young.

Baby on the way.

Leading an underground Bible school.

Who has inspired you recently? What greatness lies in those you are teaching/raising/mentoring?
